Solution. #4. It can work together, there is a possibility, but when you pair both together, they run at the same speed. The 2666mhz would downclock to the 2400MHz speed since memory cannot run at different clocks. But as other's have said, it's not guaranteed to work unless you know how to mess with timings and probably even sub timings.
Yup, you can. No, you shouldn't. The faster RAM would run at the slower speed and will not using dual channel because they are not the same size, it's even possible to have worse performance than the single 16GB stick. Snorlax_lax. Yes you can. Just know they they will all run on the looser timings of the 2 sets. So if one is CL20 and the other is CL22, they will all run at CL22. Make sure you put the 16GB sticks in the main slots and then the 2 8GB sticks in the secondary ones.
I have HyperX Beast 8gb 2400mhz DDR3 2x4 running in a ASUS Z87-Pro. Is it possible to add HyperX Beast 16gb 2400mhz DDR3 2x8 to it? The mobo supports 32gb of ram. The ASUS Z87 Pro do have 4 RAM slot and supports up to 32GB RAM. Yes, you very well can as long as you pick matching sticks same as your existing 8GB stick.
You can use 4GB RAM and 8GB RAM together, but use them with caution. You must understand the risks of mixing the RAM sticks. They must be compatible both with the processor and one another. The motherboard must support the combined RAM capacity. This is why RAMs are often sold as a matched kit of 2x4GB, 2x8GB and so on.
. Assuming the two sticks will work together..having dual channel even with the x16 stick will give you better performance than a single stick. The x16 won't be as good as a second x8 but you should still see a good bump in performance. Erdbeerenrex. OP • 2 yr. ago.
Usually mixing RAMs is a bad idea and causes issues like this one. Sometimes even if you get the exact same RAM modules, the same issue will exist. The best thing would be to get a 32Gb kit but of course that will cost a lot more (considering your mobo supports it). Go to your BIOS and enable XMP mode.
So, you have decided to upgrade the Memory/RAM on your Synology NAS. It is worth mentioning that different NAS drives require different memory types. All too often there are factors that are as follows: DDR3 – Easily the most common, this is a memory module that runs at 1600Mhz. DDR3L – A revision of DDR3, this memory runs at 1866Mhz.

It’s Apple keeping good on its promise of better memory management, something Apple‘s Craig Fedrighi highlighted when the 2018 was first introduced and was the reason I limited my purchase to 8GB.

can i mix 8gb ram with 16gb ram
